The Stony Brook band does not have the long history of some other collegiate athletic bands, but The Spirit of Stony Brook has wasted little time creating their own deep tradition. With Wolfie by their side, the 145 piece band has set their own course in creating a unique and amusing atmosphere at Stony Brook athletic events. Since 1923 the Chippewa Marching Band has graced the campus of Central Michigan University. After 89 years, the band has grown to 285 members, but their aim has always been the same. Few bands in America have as much tradition as the Ohio University Marching 110. Those who played in the band 30 or 40 years ago would notice very little difference between their band the band that most recently graced the smurf turf in Boise, Idaho for the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Some of the songs may be different, but the Marching 110 still play the traditional favorites of the Ohio University Marching Band since the modern inception in 1967.

It was back in 1901 when 13 members began the Colorado State University Marching band. The pomp and pageantry existed when those 13 students started it all, but 110 years later the Colorado State Marching band has taken it to a whole new level. With 270 members, the largest collegiate band in the state of Colorado, and the Golden Poms and Visual Ensemble, the Colorado State Marching band is now a full optical and auditory experience for the lucky audience.
