Week 5 FCS Football Game Breakdowns
With some top 25 match-up’s, big conference games, interesting non-conference battles and the game of the year, there is something for everyone this week in FCS football. The 23rd ranked Mocs of Chattanooga head to Georgia Southern for a huge SoCon game. Chattanooga appears to be for real, but with a tough finish to the 2013 season that includes games against Appalachian State, Wofford and Alabama, this team needs to win now. Staying in the SoCon, Appalachian State hosts Big South member Charleston Southern this week. The 4-0 Buccaneers already won at The Citadel earlier this season. In a top ten match-up, #4 Eastern Washington heads to #8 Sam Houston State. And #21 McNeese State takes a trip to #5 Northern Iowa. Conference play in the CAA provides an entire day of quality games, including Maine and Richmond, Towson and Stony Brook and James Madison and Delaware. The day ends with #9 Montana heading to Flagstaff to take on #20 Northern Arizona. But, of course, the game of the week and possibly the game of the year is #1 North Dakota State heading across the border to face #2 South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits are looking for revenge after NDSU beat them twice last season…once to knock SDSU out of the MVFC title race and once to knock them out of the playoffs. Every Saturday is exciting, but this one is going to have huge playoff and conference title implications.
