Last Four In: Missouri State, Liberty, Pittsburgh, Louisiana
First Four Out: Texas State, Kansas, Purdue, Vanderbilt
As expected, there are some fairly drastic changes to the bracket this week. It is time for baseball to have another system other than the RPI. The RPI is outdated for baseball now as it became outdated for men’s and women’s basketball just a few years ago. You have a team like Georgia, who is ranked high in the polls yet only a 39 RPI and they should be a team that should host right now. But normally a team with an RPI of 39 would not host. This is just an example of quite a few teams who should be higher up in the RPI. Hopefully this will change in the coming weeks and the RPI will fall into a sense of normalcy. If not, this could potentially cause some issues when the committee selects these teams for the tournament. Things may continue to change dramatically over the next week or two. Hopefully no longer than that.
