Women's Basketball Players of the Week 3/9 - 3/15

 

A standout week across the board saw dominant performances on both ends of the floor, highlighted by elite scoring, rebounding, and defensive efforts. Here are this week’s honorees:


Freshman of the Week

Kira Reynolds – UT Arlington

Freshman phenom Kira Reynolds delivered a dominant all-around performance across three games, showcasing her versatility and impact in the paint. The 6’4” forward opened the week with a monster outing against Utah Tech, posting 21 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks in a 77-73 win. She followed that with an even more efficient performance against Southern Utah, scoring 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting while adding six rebounds and two blocks in just 24 minutes.

Despite a quieter performance in the loss to Abilene Christian, Reynolds still finished the week with impressive totals of 52 points, 25 rebounds, six assists, and seven blocks while shooting nearly 49% from the field. Her ability to impact the game on both ends makes her one of the most promising young players in the country.


Sixth Player of the Week

Debora dos Santos – Idaho

Coming off the bench, senior Debora dos Santos provided a major spark for Idaho with back-to-back double-doubles. In a win over Sacramento State, she recorded 14 points and 12 rebounds while adding three steals and two blocks, setting the tone with her defensive presence.

She followed that with another strong showing against Montana State, tallying 9 points and 10 rebounds along with two assists. For the week, dos Santos totaled 23 points and 21 rebounds while contributing across the stat sheet with steals and blocks. Her consistency and physicality off the bench proved to be a key difference-maker.


Defensive Player of the Week

Nile Miller – Howard

Nile Miller anchored the defense for Howard with a disruptive and game-changing week. The senior guard/forward compiled an impressive 12 steals over three games, including an eye-popping eight-steal performance against Coppin State.

Miller also controlled the glass with 20 defensive rebounds while committing just three turnovers across the week. Her defensive instincts, activity, and ability to create turnovers played a major role in Howard’s three wins.

Offensive Player of the Week & Player of the Week

Kadidia Toure – Long Island

Kadidia Toure put together one of the most dominant performances of the week, earning both Offensive Player of the Week and overall Player of the Week honors. The junior forward averaged over 23 points and 13 rebounds per game, leading Long Island with her consistent scoring and playmaking.

Toure opened the week with a 26-point, 16-rebound, six-assist performance in a win over Chicago State. She followed that with a near triple-double effort against Mercyhurst, recording 16 points, 15 rebounds, and seven assists. In the final game of the week, she poured in 28 points to go along with nine rebounds.

For the week, Toure totaled 70 points, 40 rebounds, and 14 assists, showcasing her ability to dominate in every facet of the game. Her elite production and leadership make her a clear choice for the top honor.
