Women's Basketball Players of the Week 3/2 - 3/9

Freshman of the Week

Charlotte Tuhy – American
Freshman forward Charlotte Tuhy delivered a remarkable two-game stretch, showcasing her scoring ability and dominance on the glass for American.

Tuhy opened the week with a tremendous performance in a 62–60 road victory at Lehigh, recording 22 points and 15 rebounds while adding three steals and a block. She followed that performance with an even bigger offensive night against Boston University, scoring 26 points while once again pulling down 15 rebounds.

Across the two contests, Tuhy totaled 48 points and 30 rebounds while shooting 17-of-35 from the field and 6-of-11 from three-point range. Averaging 24 points and 15 rebounds per game while playing 38 minutes per contest, the freshman proved to be a consistent force on both ends of the floor.


Bench Player of the Week

Jordan Speiser – Kansas State
Kansas State freshman Jordan Speiser provided a major spark off the bench throughout a busy four-game stretch, playing a key role in the Wildcats’ run.

Speiser started the week with an explosive outing against Cincinnati, scoring 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting while hitting six three-pointers in just 21 minutes. After a quieter performance against Texas Tech, she bounced back with 21 points against Oklahoma State and followed with 16 points against TCU.

For the week, Speiser totaled 63 points while shooting 20-of-46 from the field and an impressive 16-of-33 from beyond the arc. Her ability to provide instant offense helped Kansas State maintain strong perimeter production throughout the stretch.


Defensive Player of the Week

Sarah Strong – Connecticut
Connecticut sophomore Sarah Strong anchored a dominant defensive effort during UConn’s two decisive victories.

In an 84–39 win over Georgetown, Strong recorded six steals and two blocks while adding four defensive rebounds. She followed that performance with another defensive clinic against Creighton, finishing with six steals and three blocks in a commanding 100–51 victory.

Across the two games, Strong accumulated 12 steals, five blocks, and 10 defensive rebounds, repeatedly disrupting opposing offenses and creating transition opportunities for the Huskies.


Offensive Player of the Week

Peyton McDaniel – James Madison

Senior Peyton McDaniel led James Madison to a Sun Belt Conference Tournament championship with a series of outstanding offensive performances.

McDaniel opened the stretch with 22 points in a win over South Alabama before scoring 25 points against Georgia Southern. She capped the run with a dominant performance in the championship game against Troy, finishing with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists without committing a turnover.

Over the three games, McDaniel totaled 75 points while shooting 28-of-55 from the field and 10-of-24 from three-point range. She also added 20 rebounds and nine assists, leading James Madison to the conference title with consistent scoring and leadership.


Player of the Week

Hannah Hidalgo – Notre Dame

Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo delivered another stellar week, leading the Fighting Irish through a challenging three-game stretch.

Hidalgo began the week with 28 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals in a win over Miami. She followed that with 25 points and five assists in a victory over NC State before finishing with 24 points and eight rebounds in a narrow loss to Duke.

Across the three games, Hidalgo recorded 77 points, 21 rebounds, 12 assists, and 11 steals while shooting 34-of-66 from the field. Her ability to impact every area of the game continues to make her one of the most dynamic players in the country.
