Alyssia Brewer, Senior, Forward, Tennessee
Overview:
Brewer came in to Knoxville with plenty of accolades and was very productive in 2008-09 as a freshman primarily off the bench. She recorded two double-doubles, had 4. 3 rebounds per game and recorded 22 blocked shots establishing a tough defensive presence. Her sophomore year of 2009-10, was definitely her best. Brewer started 13 games and averaged in double-figures at just over 10 points a contest. She was very effective down low in the paint shooting 53.8 percent from the field. Brewer also had her career high of 23 points against George Washington.
In 2010-11, Brewer had a tough injury plagued season appearing in 20 games, averaging only 2.9 points, and 2.6 rebounds per contest as Tennessee went all the way to the Elite Eight before losing to Notre Dame.
Final Projection:
The key for Brewer will be her ability to bounce back from her junior season of only playing 20 games and getting back to her sophomore season form where she averaged in double-figures scoring wise. If she can stay healthy and take some pressure off Glory Johnson then the upside of Brewer’s talent is going to be an interesting scenario for WNBA teams scouting her for the draft.
