Adreian Payne NBA Draft Profile

Adreian Payne NBA Draft Profile

Adreian Payne, Junior, Power Forward, Michigan State

Overview:

Adreian Payne had a tough time working his way into the regular rotation at Michigan State during his freshman campaign. However, when he was in the game, he was impressive to watch. That was especially true at the end of the year once Payne had some experience in the system.

On the year he only averaged 9.0 minutes per game, but Payne did start the last four games of the season and the 6-10 Dayton, Ohio naïve is ready for a breakout campaign. Even in such limited playing time, Payne averaged 2.5 points and 2.4 rebounds. Perhaps more importantly, he showed off his length and athleticism with some quality blocked shots.

Final Projection:

Not long ago Payne was 6-5 prior to a prep growth spurt. That has given him some experience as a shooter and he has a nice stroke. With his 7-1 wingspan he can simply shoot over most opponents. His length and leaping ability will make Payne into a big play forward who can finish spectacularly around the basket and block a ton of shots. That alone should give him an opportunity to make a living in the NBA and his stock will only rise as his post moves continue to improve.
