Greg Mangano NBA Draft Profile

Greg Mangano NBA Draft Profile

Greg Mangano, Senior, Center, Yale

Overview:

Cornell, Princeton and Harvard have stolen most of the headlines away from Yale and Greg Mangano in the recent Ivy League past, but the Bulldogs and their 6-10, 240 pound center have been a dangerous team. Mangano was not a superstar right away. As a freshman he barely played and during his sophomore campaign he was just a role-player. However, he did lead the Ivy League with 2.0 blocks per game despite his limited playing time.

It was not until he was an upperclassman that Mangano really made his mark on the offensive side of things. Mangano led the Bulldogs with 16.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game. He emerged as a superb interior scorer and there was nobody in the Ivy League who could stop him.

Final Projection:

What makes Mangano so dangerous offensively is his ability to shoot the ball. After connecting on just ten three-pointers during his first two years at Yale, he knocked down 1.1 per contest as a junior. As his outside shooting continues to improve, Mangano will be even tougher to stop. Yet, even if he does not need to do much scoring after his days at Yale are over, he can still be a fine rebounder and shot blocker in the NBA, but his ability to step out and hit the outside shot makes his portfolio even more impressive.
