Week 4 FCS Football Bracketology Breakdown

Central Arkansas FCS Football
George Hammond

Last Four In: Tennessee-Martin, Youngstown State, Richmond, Central Arkansas

First Four Out: Chattanooga, Stephen F. Austin, Indiana State, Illinois State

With Gardner-Webb’s 3-0 upset victory over Wofford Saturday night, Richmond’s loss to the Bulldogs doesn’t seem so shocking. Why the focus on Richmond? With Stony Brook having to go the remainder of the year without top running back Marcus Coker because of injury, the Spiders (2-2) have a good shot to make the playoffs as a possible fourth CAA entry thanks to a beneficial schedule. While it does meet Towson, Richmond doesn’t face New Hampshire or Villanoa this season. That could be a big plus when it comes time to measure wins and losses. The fight for playoff spots in the Southland Conference could be interesting too, as Sam Houston State, McNeese State, Central Arkansas and Stephen F. Austin battle for what likely will be three bids.
