Marqise Lee, Junior, Wide Receiver, USC
Overview:
Marqise Lee, the 6'0" wide receiver for Southern California, was born to catch footballs. As a freshman, Lee tallied 1,143 yards and 11 touchdowns on 73 catches. He decided those were pedestrian numbers for a player of his caliber. So, as a sophomore he upped his production across the board: 1,721 yards (second in the nation) and 14 touchdowns (tie for third nationally) on 118 receptions (first in the nation). What could he possibly do as a third act? With Robert Woods out of the picture, the answer may be a lot more. Lee will be THE guy for whoever secures their grip on the starting quarterback position. And although defenses will be doubling him play after play, he has already proven he has the ability to blow the top off of any defensive alignment.
Final Projection:
With a similar size and build to scat backs and slot receivers, Marqise Lee plays a lot bigger than he is. Whereas Sammy Watkins is often looked at as a jack of all trades playmaker, there is no such connotation applied to Lee. Marqise Lee is looked at as a number one receiver. With uncertainty surrounding the USC quarterback position, there is a distinct possibility that the junior will not match his previous season numbers. However, if he decides to enter the NFL draft, the likelihood of Lee not being the number one wide receiver on everyone's board seems remote.
