Ka’Deem Carey, Junior, Running Back, Arizona
Overview:
Ka’Deem Carey was the most productive running back in college football in 2012, rushing for 1,929 yards and 23 touchdowns. Against Colorado, he broke Pac-12 and Arizona single game records with 366 rushing yards. His 24 total touchdowns were also a Wildcat record. And all of that was just as a sophomore.
Carey showed some promise as a freshman, but few expected he would take the college football world by storm just a year later. On just 91 carries as a freshman, Carey rushed for 425 yards and six touchdowns. Carey has been very involved in the passing game as well and that is a skill the NFL will like. As a freshman he caught 15 passes for 203 yards and two scores and followed it up the next year with 36 receptions for 304 yards.
Final Projection:
Carey has obviously had a very productive collegiate career and the Arizona offense does not always churn out superb rushers. The offense does not lend itself to players rushing for nearly 2,000 yards. Carey is that good. However, he does need to take care of some off-field issues. Carey has been in trouble on multiple occasions and some teams may take him off their big board right away if they are not impressed with Carey’s interviews. But on the field there are not many running backs as talented as the 5-10 Carey.
