Andrew Oliver, Sophomore, Forward, Indiana
Overview:
With eight starts and seeing time on the pitch in 15 matches including the championship win over Georgetown for the College Cup last season, Andrew Oliver had a very good start to his collegiate career. Playing under Eriq Zavaleta last season didn’t give Oliver much chance to shine but he was still able to pull off two goals, including a game clincher in a 2-0 victory over Ohio State. Oliver scored his second in the win over Kentucky. Taking just 13 total shots, he was able to hit the frame eight of the 13 making him deadly accurate.
Oliver, an NSCAA All-American, was a member of the U-17 National Team and Golden Boot winner at the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 tournament in Jamaica. Oliver was invited to train with Liverpool FC during the summer of 2011 after his performance in Jamaica.
Final Projection:
Oliver will be the starting forward this season and, with one championship under his belt, he will be fighting for another. Playing along side names like Corrado and Kotlov, the team has a strong chance to bring a ninth championship home to Bloomington. As the front man on the Hoosier offense, Oliver’s game will definitely benefit.
