Mark Sherrod, Senior, Forward, Memphis
Overview:
At the end of Memphis’ hard 2012 season, Mark Sherrod was able to shine logging over 1600 minutes in 18 matches and starting all of them. Sherrod finished out the season with 28 points tallying 12 goals and four assists. He went three-for-three on penalty kick attempts and had 35 SOG out of 89 shots total. Sherrod is the player that all of Memphis’ opponents defense keys on and the type of player that worries them.
Sherrod, a Knoxville, Tennessee native, finished the 2012 season with All-Conference USA First Team honors and also C-USA Player of the Year a second time in a row. Back-to-back seasons with that honor made Sherrod only one of two players in C-USA history to have accomplished this feat.
Final Projection:
With the rough season out of sight, Sherrod and the Tigers are looking to this season to rebuild and come out on top. Wins will help get the pro team’s attention but its Sherrod’s performance that will send him to the majors. Another strong season like last year will earn him an early draft pick.
