William Buford, Senior, Shooting Guard, Ohio State
Overview:
Despite being a starter for his entire career at Ohio State, William Buford often gets overlooked. He was never as good of a scorer as Evan Turner or as consistent of a shooter as Jon Diebler. He is not a shutdown defender like David Lighty or a superb playmaker like Aaron Craft. In many ways, Buford is all of those things, but he does not do one particular thing extremely well.
What Buford does do is a bit of everything. During his first three years in Columbus, he was second on the team scoring. He has also had times where he has been a fine rebounder and his passing ability has improved greatly during his time with the Buckeyes. That was partially due to a lack of other options during the 2010-2011 campaign, but Buford proved that he can pass the ball and be a leader on the floor.
Final Projection:
Buford will not have to be a leader in the NBA, but he will need to be a consistent and dynamic scorer. Early in his career, the 6-5, 205 pound former Mr. Basketball of Ohio, was pretty much a slasher who occasionally made a three-pointer. By the 2010-2011 season, Buford connected on 44.2 percent of his 3.8 attempts per game from beyond the arc. Combine that with his ability to attack the basket and Buford is a dynamic scorer. On any other team he would be a superstar, but he will still get his chance to gain some much deserved national recognition.
