A.J. Corrado, Senior, Midfield, Indiana
Overview:
Corrado actually started his collegiate soccer career at Southern Methodist University, where he appeared in 18 matches as a freshman and helped the Mustangs reach the Elite Eight in the 2010 NCAA Tournament. After transferring to Indiana for the 2011 season, Corrado started all 22 games for the Hoosiers, recording two goals and four assists.
Corrado’s breakout season, however, came as a junior in 2012. Leading the team with 12 assists, Corrado started all 24 matches for Indiana, guiding the Hoosiers to their eighth NCAA title with a 1-0 win over Georgetown in the College Cup final. He was also a First Team All-Big Ten selection.
Final Projection:
Corrado is a genuine playmaker in the midfield, but his defensive tenacity should be admired by scouts just as much. He possesses the pace and awareness to properly defend give-and-goes and is often found supporting the back line. Corrado sees the field extremely well and is capable of delivering quality balls to teammates, including free kicks. He can also run at defenders given his occasional elusiveness on the ball. Corrado’s well-rounded game should eventually land him a spot in the MLS.
