Schillo Tshuma, Sophomore, Midfielder/Forward, Maryland
Overview:
The Zimbabwe-born player was Maryland’s second-leading scorer in 2012 with 22 points (10G, 2A) and four game-winning goals. Including players who had 20 shots or more, Tshuma ranked second in accuracy, placing nearly 47 percent of his shots on goal. He played in all 24 games – starting 21 of them – with his biggest performance coming in the College Cup semifinals against Georgetown.
Tshuma’s two-goal game versus the Hoyas earned him College Cup All-Tournament team honors. Tshuma was also named to the ACC All-Freshman team, All-ACC second team, and the ACC Championship All-Tournament team, making his freshman season a well-decorated one. Furthermore, his stellar play has merited time on the Zimbabwe National Team at the U-17 and U-23 levels.
Final Projection:
Tshuma is a resourceful player who can be utilized as a winger, attacking midfielder, or a secondary striker. He possesses excellent technical skills, and his quick and elusive feet allow him to dribble into high-traffic areas and deliver quality shots on goal. Tshuma’s ability to create scoring opportunities is one of his greatest strengths and should catch the eye of MLS scouts.
