Eric Fisher, Senior, OT, Central Michigan
Overview:
In a strong tackle class, Eric Fisher was a high prospect to begin with. At just over 6’7” and nearly 300 lbs., Fisher is a man-child. After his performance at the senior bowl, he is shooting up draft boards left and right. He stood out as a guy that can shift his feet and hold a block. He is a play finisher, and he can seal the edge for any runner out of the backfield. He could probably play both sides of the line if needed, but he is a coach’s idea of a prototypical left tackle.
Final Projection:
Fisher had a heck of Senior Bowl. Since the quarterback class is not very strong this year, bringing in guys to protect them for the future will be a priority. Fisher was going to be solidly in the first round anyway, but after his recent boost, he may find himself going somewhere in the top five to eight picks. A team like the Eagles might jump on him at four.
4/11/2013 Update by Joel Welser:
And Fisher may not last until the fourth pick either. His athletic potential has many thinking he could be the first overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft. Kansas City will likely look for an offensive lineman and it is between Fisher and Texas A&M's Luke Joeckel. Joeckel is more NFL ready than Fisher, but the NFL Draft likes potential and that is exactly what Fisher has.
