Kenzie Fowler, Senior, Pitcher, University of Arizona
Throws: Right
Overview:
Kenzie Fowler’s talent is not in question. With a career opponent batting average of .191 and nearly 800 strikeouts, Fowler has proven that she is one of the top pitchers in the country. Bursting onto the scene with 35 wins as a freshman, she was named First Team All-American and also to the All-College World Series team. Fowler was 26-9 as a sophomore and 15-9 last year. Fowler ranks in the top ten in several career categories for the Wildcats, who have a long history of top hurlers.
Final Projection:
Talent may not be a concern in the draft, but health is. Fowler has a long history of physical concerns, which explains her declining numbers. In October of 2012, she underwent microscopic discectomy surgery. She is said to be ready for the season’s onset, and it will be interesting to see if she can reclaim her past dominance. Fowler will need to be productive in 2013 to be considered a strong draft prospect.
