Overview:
Luna has been a solid performer in the circle for the Longhorns, which is not easy following in the footsteps of Cat Osterman. Luna is second in virtually every Longhorn pitching record and will remain so after her senior campaign. She has over 1000 strikeouts in three years, and finished third in the country in K’s/7 innings in 2012 (10.6). Luna performed well at the Austin regionals in 2012 with two shutouts, and defeated #12 Oregon at the Supers, so she can handle big games. Big 12 Pitcher of the Year in 2010 garnered her national recognition.
Final Projection:
No stranger to pressure, Luna could fit in as a nice piece to someone’s puzzle. She will need a solid senior season to impress as her numbers have declined over the last three years with 257 runners (136 hits, 26 HP, 95 BB) in just 188 innings pitched in 2012. Luna’s career stats suggest she performs better the more innings she throws.
