Dillon Powers MLS Draft Profile

Dillon Powers MLS Draft Player Profile

Dillon Powers, Senior, Midfield, Notre Dame

Overview:

For pretty much four years, Dillon Powers has been a staple in the middle of the field for Notre Dame. The hype started early for Powers as he entered South Bend, Indiana as the reigning Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year.

He wasted little time making an impact for the Irish. As a freshman he started four games, played in 18 and dished out five assists. In 2010 as a sophomore Powers emerged as a major defensive presence in the midfield and turned out to be more than just a passer as well. On the season he netted four goals on top of his four assists. As a team captain in 2011, Powers saw his numbers slip a bit to one goal and four assists, but he spent more time being defensive.

Final Projection:

Powers is a fine defensive midfielder who has the ability to move up into the attack and create plays or, occasionally, finish himself. Another good season with Notre Dame and Powers will likely be a first round draft pick following his senior season.
