Mamadou Doudou Diouf, Junior, Forward, Connecticut
Overview:
Mamadou Doudou Diouf is a pure striker. Even back in 2010 as a freshman at Connecticut, the 6-1 Senegal product was making an impact. He only played in 12 contests due to a mid-season injury, but he scored six goals. As a healthy sophomore in 2011, Diouf emerged as the Huskies top scoring threat, netting 13 goals.
There is not much Diouf cannot do when it comes to finishing. He is capable of scoring with his feet and his head. At 6-1, he towers over some defenders and that makes him a nice target in the box.
Final Projection:
Diouf has the potential to be a superb player at the next level. Some may want to see him have another full healthy and productive season before using a top pick on him in the 2013 MLS Draft but even if he has a disappointing campaign in 2012, Diouf is too talented to drop too far from the top of any team’s MLS SuperDraft big board.
