Andre Blake MLS Draft Profile

Andre Blake MLS Draft Profile

Andre Blake, Sophomore, Goalkeeper, Connecticut

Overview:

Andre Blake had some big shoes to fill as the keeper at Connecticut. But the 6-4 freshman did just fine during the 2011 season. And just fine is a vast, vast understatement considering his name is already in the record books and Blake was named to the Big East First Team and a variety of All-Freshman and All-American teams.

Blake’s season was highlighted by nine consecutive shutouts, spanning over a month of time. That totaled 961 minutes and 32 seconds without conceding a goal. Blake added six other shutouts and allowed a mere ten goals on the season. Blake saved .888 percent of the shots headed his direction, which ranked tops in the Big East and fourth in nation.

Final Projection:

Blake has all the tools to be a great goalkeeper at the next level. He is big and athletic and has gotten plenty of international experience with the Jamaican U-17 and U-20 teams. Whenever Blake opts to leave college, any team should be happy to develop to his skills and count on Blake as their keeper of the future.
