Jeff Withey NBA Draft Profile

Jeff Withey NBA Draft Profile

Jeff Withey, Senior, Center, Kansas

Overview:

Jeff Withey barely saw the floor as an underclassman at Kansas. Surely, there are plenty of good players to be stuck behind, but the seven-footer averaged about five minute per game as an underclassman. His experience level is pretty low considering he is now a senior.

But with one good year, Withey has entered the 2013 NBA Draft talk. During the Jayhawks run to the 2012 national title game, Withey averaged 9.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.6 blocks. If he has a better senior season, Withey does have a future in the NBA.

Final Projection:

However, right now he is pretty much a shot blocker and nothing else. He lacks the strength to do much else. He can rebound some just because he is so tall, but he has to get tougher. The lack of strength causes problems on offense too. He can lose the ball way too easily when he gets touches in the paint. Having some quality post moves would help negate that problem, but Withey lacks those at this point in his career. Those may sound like horrible things that should keep Withey out of the NBA, but 15 pounds of muscle will change a lot of minds.
