Seattle Regional Breakdown
Washington snuck into the host teams despite falling apart late in the season. This group went just 7-16 in Pac-12 play. Of course the Pac-12 is extremely tough, but there are a few other teams who could have claimed the final seeded position. But either way, the Huskies get to host a regional and have an opportunity to turn their season around. Kaitlin Inglesby will need to carry the Huskies. The sophomore leads the team in batting and pitching. At the plate she hits .406 and has knocked out ten homeruns and tallied 62 RBIs. In the circle, she has a team leading 2.33 ERA and his pitched 19 complete games, finishing with an 18-10 record.
Texas Tech, Maryland and Harvard will all have a good opportunity to advance from this region despite the long trip to Seattle. The Lady Raiders have a ton of power at the plate and they could send balls flying into Puget Sound. Adriana Perez, Mikey Kenney, Sandy James and Raven Richardson are all capable of going deep against any pitcher in this regional. Maryland does not hit nearly as many homeruns, but they are still a very good offensive team, averaging nearly five runs per game. However, they will need some quality outings from Kendra Knight if they want to go the SuperRegionals for the first time ever. Harvard will be the obvious underdog in the Seattle Regional, but it will be very interesting to see how pitcher Rachel Brown performs against quality opposition like Texas Tech and Washington. She pretty much dominated the Ivy League, but the going will get much tougher in Seattle.
