Alex Okafor, Senior, Defensive End, Texas
Overview:
Back in 2009 Alex Okafor broke into college football playing in 14 games as a freshman. As he matured he continued to improve and now, entering his senior season, he is poised to dominate the collegiate ranks. As a junior he was a unanimous first team All Big 12 as voted by the coaches. He tailed 58 tackles including 14 for a loss. He brought down the quarterback seven times and broke up three passes. He tacked on 17 quarterback pressures as well. He stands tall at 6’4 ½ and weighs 260 pounds and uses every inch of that frame to gain leverage on offensive lineman and penetrate the backfield. He has a high motor and never gives up on a play.
Final Projection:
Alex Okafor is a versatile prospect who can project well as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 or a defensive end in a 4-3. Players who are pass rushing specialist typically get snapped up early on draft day and Okafor is just that. He has ideal NFL size to play outside linebacker as a rush linebacker in a 3-4 defense. He is a sack artist, who if he continues to dominate the college ranks, should wind up hearing his name called early on draft day.
