Case Keenum Earns The Madness Player of the Week Award for Week 8

Houston remained undefeated last week after hammering Marshall 63-28. Once again it was Case Keenum leading the way, but this week was special for the Cougar quarterback. Keenum completed 24-of-28 passes for 376 yards and six touchdowns. That is enough to earn him the College Sports Madness Player of the Week honors. But Keenum did more than tie his career high six touchdown passes; he became the FBS career leader in total offense, surpassing former Hawaii gunslinger Timmy Chang. But more importantly (even more important than Keenum leading the CollegeSportsMadness.com fantasy team to victory), is the fact that Houston is now 7-0 and looking at a possible 12-0 record heading into the Conference USA Championship game.

When Keenum is healthy, as he has been all season, Houston’s offense can outscore anybody. The strength of schedule will likely keep the Cougars outside of the BCS picture, even with a 13-0 record heading into the bowls, but Keenum will have the opportunity to end his second senior season with a bang…as long as he remains healthy. And if he stays healthy, Keenum will likely pass Chang for most passing yards in a career and Graham Harrell of Texas Tech for most touchdown passes. The very impressive numbers he put up against Marshall certainly got him a big step closer to setting those records.
