There’s interest in the NFL all throughout the year and it doesn’t just end after the completion of the Super Bowl. Between April 24 and 26, the NFL Draft will take place and it’s going to be an exciting time both for the teams and players, especially those currently playing college football.
It’s also an important time for the US gambling industry. They will still be counting all the huge amounts of cash that will be wagered on this year’s Super Bowl, according to American Bet. However, there’s a long wait until the start of the next season and the absence of NFL matches will hit their finances.
That’s why it is possible to not just bet on the NFL Draft but there will also be betting odds available for next season. Gamblers will be keen to place some bets, not just because they love doing so on the NFL but often the odds available are better than wil be seen during the actual season.
When it comes to the NFL Draft, the big betting market is on who will be the number one pick and it could well be a college footballer who is the first player chosen.
The NFL Draft takes place at Lambeau Field and the first overall pick will be made by the Tennessee Titans. It’s not something they’d like to be doing because they’re only the first pick because the Titans had the worst record (3-14 in the AFC South) in the current NFL season.
The current favorite to be the first draft pick is Cameron Ward. The Miami Dolphins quarterback has been receiving plenty of praise for being a natural and easy thrower of a football. He may not have the most orthodox of deliveries but is excellent at improvising and making pre-snap protection calls that can benefit his side.
If you want to be betting on the NFL draft, here’s one statistic that could prove very helpful. The last 28 NFL Drafts have seen the number one pick be either a defensive end, quarterback or outside linebacker..
It’s the dream of college footballers to one day end up playing in the NFL. Travis Hunter certainly has that ambition and it is likely to come true very soon. The Colorado Buffaloes cornerback and wide receiver and Heisman Trophy winner is second in the betting for the first NFL Draft pick.
With 96 receptions, 15 touchdowns and 1,258 yards last season, there will be plenty of interest in signing this talented college footballer. Last year saw him make an Instagram post that declared: “Just a reminder that I can play more than 1 position.” Social media has been a bit of a problem for Hunter and his fiancée, Leanna Lenee, had some problems on social media but Hunter is putting less effort into taking photos and putting them online and more on his career. The massive deal he has with United Airlines is just the beginning of the riches that seem to be heading in his direction.
Another quarterback high in the betting is Shedeur Sanders. The Colorado player had a great 2024 season with a 74% completion rate in his 13 games. He’s taken 99 sacks over the past couple of seasons but his footwork and accuracy has won him plenty of fans.
He’s already been busy meeting NFL teams to discuss a possible move. Tennessee Titans (who remember have the first pick), Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants are all interested in recruiting Sanders.
Brian Callahan is the head coach of the Tennessee Titans and admits to being a big fan of Sanders. In a recent interview on ESPN, he said Sanders is “really poised” with a “mature way about him.” Calahan is also impressed with the fact Sanders has been in the spotlight “and knows how to handle it.” All of which makes Sanders a good bet to be the number one pick if he wants to play for the Titans.
Or is he? The Titans are also interested in Penn State’s defensive end Abdul Carter. That’s not surprising after a 2024 season that saw him total 93 tackles and 12 sacks in the 16 games he played helping them have a better season than in 2023.
Carter has the ability to force his opponents to make fumbles and that’d help solve some of the defensive problems the Titans have. There’s plenty of interest in him with the New York Jets and New England Patriots also keen on signing him. The Titans having that first pick could be the conclusive factor in this NFL Draft.
