Texas picked up a huge win over Alabama and has catapulted themselves into the projected playoffs. Florida State is right in the mix now too following their week 1 win over LSU, but for now they are on the outside looking in with Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State getting the nod. Even with just two weeks in the books, the Group of Five winner, who is projected to play in the Fiesta Bowl, is wide open. The American Athletic Conference often gets that spot but the two favorites in the conference, Tulane and Texas-San Antonio, have picked up early losses. In fact, the conference has just one of their 14 teams sitting at 2-0. The rest already have at least one loss. Of course a one or two loss team can be the best of the Group of Five champions, but this is a great opportunity for somebody from a conference like the Sun Belt to make a serious run towards a New Year’s Six Bowl.
