Indiana State Recruiting Early
These days programs start recruiting pretty early. Stories of scholarships being offered to ninth graders has not been out of the ordinary. But Indiana State is going a little younger looking for their future stars with this YouTube video of Sycamore Sam Goes to Kindergarten. I searched for other similar videos, such as Sycamore Sam Goes to the Dentist or Sycamore Sam Rides a Bike with the Man in the Blue Hat, but to no avail. Apparently the ripping off of Curious George ended with one video. I have a four year old niece who has good size and a wicked jump shot…scholarship offers are welcome.
The problem with the video is the lack of basketball on the playground. Sure Sycamore Sam can represent the entire university, but this is Indiana State. This is Larry Bird country. Why isn’t Sycamore Sam stuffing some shot into a five year olds face? But who am I to judge a low budget educational film that ended up on YouTube for no apparent reason? I only spent many, many years and many more dollars going to film school and now I’m writing a story about Sycamore Sam going to kindergarten.
