Three candidates for the Punjab Kings captain role

First on the list of possible captains is Mayank Agarwal. Currently on the Punjab Kings roster, Shikhar Dhawan has an opportunity to become a team captain. Even if the franchise is not considering him for the long term as captain, Dhawan could be a temporary option while helping the Punjab Kings prepare a strong captain for the game going forward.
№3 Kagiso Rabada
Kagiso Rabada could be the third possible captain of the Punjab Kings. South African pacer Kagiso Rabada could be a backup as captain if the Punjab Kings team does not select either of the two above.
South African pacer Kagiso Rabada, 26 years old, has no experience as a team leader. However, he is the leader of the bowling attack and the most experienced member of the team after Dhawan and Agarwal.
Even though his play in the IPL 2021 was not the most productive, still, his overall performance in the tournament is still better than most other players. To Kagiso Rabada's credit in IPL 2021, 76 wickets in 50 matches with an average of 20.53 and a strike rate of 15.
In case Kagiso Rabada does not take over as captain of the Punjab Kings team, he may well become vice-captain. This position could help him feel extra responsibility and as a result, Kagiso Rabada's level of play and performance could increase and the Punjab Kings could win the upcoming IPL 2022 season.
