The NBA's Greatest Winning Streaks
The winning streaks.
There have been some brilliant winning streaks in NBA history, where teams have completely shocked us with the unthinkable odds and beaten the board.
If you enjoy betting on the NBA, you can pick up on the signs of a winning streak if you know what to look for, and this can be very beneficial if you are betting on NBA player futures odds.
Winning can be contagious, you see it at casinos, if you play bingo, in a game of poker, even on an Xbox game or PlayStation game, and most of all you see it, and will have seen it time and time again in the NBA.
So, let’s take a look at the most incredible, astounding, and showstopping winning streaks to ever been seen in NBA history!
1971-1972: The Los Angeles Lakers.
We cannot have this list without mentioning this game. It was an incredible show of strength from the Lakers. In the 1971-1972 season they scored 33-games!
They had lost in 7 of the previous 10 NBA finals, but this season went as perfectly as it could. Starting 6-3, they went on to make NBA history and record a 33-game winning streak that lasted an amazing 2 months from November 5th until January 9th. Their streak was snapped in Milwaukee by the Bucks, who were the reigning champion back then.
They were led by stars Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, and Gail Goodrich, who rode the momentum of their stream to a then-NBA best 69-13, and the 1972 championship.
Their overall 69 wins have been surpassed twice; however, it remains tied for the third-most wins in a single NBA season.
2012-2013: Miami Heat.
There was only one team who seemed to be a threat to the Laker’s insane winning streak- the Miami Heat in 2012-2013.
They were the reigning champions, and they pulled off 27 straight victories, 13 on the road and 14 at home, this streak lasted 55 days from February 3rd 2013 until March 27th 2013.
Their streak contained 17 double-digit victories and seven wins where double-digit deficits were erased. They defeated 20 different teams in this time, and although they did not beat the Lakers record, they got very close to doing so and everyone held their breath.
2015-2016: Golden State Warriors.
Only a couple of years after the Heat had their winning streak, the Golden State Warriors scored a 24-game winning streak from October 27th 2015 until December 11th 2015. While it is only the third most impressive streak, it is the most consecutive wins to start off a season.
And much like the Lakers, their streak ended in Milwaukee. Yet, the most incredible thing about this streak is that 14 of their 24 wins happened on the road, and 15 of the 24 came by a double-digit margin! Astounding!
They went on to win an NBA record of 73 games, breaking the 72 game win mark made by the ‘95-’96 Bulls. They could not wrap up this magical season, though, as they were on the downside of the only 3-1 comeback in the Finals- courtesy of the Cavaliers.
2007-2008: Houston Rockets.
While they had Yao Ming on their team, the Rockets scored a sweet 22-game streak from January ‘08 until March ‘08. Although it is only the fourth best winning streak, it is considered one of the most impressive and remarkable in the history of the NBA.
They are the only team we have listed who were not defending champions as they went into their streak, or then went on to win a title.
Considering the talent of these rosters, the Rockets do stand out. Not only did they have 7ft 6inch Yao Ming as their Center, but they also had Tracy McGrady as well, and they won 12 straight before they received news of Yao’s broken foot.
However, they still managed to score their other ten wins while Yao was on the bench. They finished with a 55-27 record.
