Last Eight In: Nebraska, Villanova, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, South Dakota, Arizona State, Washington State, Marquette
First Eight Out: Clemson, Seton Hall, UCF, BYU, Rice, Kent State, North Carolina, Florida
This week top teams managed to avoid upsets against unranked opponents. But, on Sunday alone, three of the top four teams in the country had very, very close calls. Louisville managed to hang on against Wake Forest, winning by two points thanks to Dana Evans. Also in the ACC, #2 North Carolina State beat Virginia Tech by two. As important as those games were to Louisville and NC State, the losses were very tough for the Demon Deacons and the Hokies. Both need to have a quality, resume-building victory at some point, but after Sunday it seems like they might be able to get one or two before the end of the year. The other near upset was at LSU where South Carolina slipped past the Tigers 69-65. That loss dropped LSU out of our First Eight Out and they are now 6-7 overall.
