Last Eight In: St. John’s, Georgia Tech, Western Kentucky, Duke, Drake, Iowa State, Creighton, Tennessee
First Eight Out: Oklahoma State, Bradley, Minnesota, Nebraska, Drexel, North Carolina, Butler, Oklahoma
Three of the four #1 seeds seem to have basically been clinched by South Carolina, Oregon and Baylor. The last spot is up for grabs. We had North Carolina State in that spot coming into this week. They then lost twice. Connecticut, Mississippi State and UCLA were in the conversation as well, but also lost this week. That puts Stanford in that position for now. The Cardinal beat UCLA at home this week, but the rest of the schedule is tough. They host Oregon and take a trip to the Arizona schools to end the regular season. Those are big opportunities to cement their spot on the top line, but those are also three games where it would not be surprising at all if they went into the conference tournament with three straight losses. That, of course, would reopen the debate of who deserves that last #1 seed.
