Wofford at North Dakota State FCS Football 2017 Playoffs Quarterfinal Breakdown

Wofford at North Dakota State, Saturday 12:00

It was not as close as it was during the regular season when Wofford slipped past Furman 24-23, but the Terriers once again got the best of their Southern Conference rivals in the playoffs. This time they won 28-10 behind a defense that held the Paladins to just 52 yards on the ground. The Terriers ran for 291 yards, led by Lennox McAfee’s 98 yards. They will need to have another productive day in the ground game if they want to compete with North Dakota State.

In a day of relatively close Second Round games, North Dakota State was the one team that pulled away early and never looked backed. The Bison knocked off San Diego 38-3. Easton Stick threw for 171 yards and three touchdowns, while both Bruce Anderson and Ty Brooks had productive days in the ground game. Clearly San Diego was outmatched. NDSU will be face much tougher competition in the quarterfinals against Wofford though.

Wofford will want to eat up clock and keep the ball on the ground. If the NDSU defense is ready to deal with the Wofford triple option offense, it could be a tough day for the Terriers. However, Wofford has a defense that can be troublesome to the Bison as well. The key to this game could be the turnover battle. Both teams have done a wonderful job in that department so far this season. If Wofford can get pressure on Stick and force him to make mistakes, this game could get very interesting.

Projected Score: North Dakota State 30, Wofford 21
