Last Eight In: St. John’s, Tulane, Creighton, Indiana, Auburn, Temple, Marquette, West Virginia
First Eight Out: Virginia, Iowa, California, Northwestern, Georgia Tech, Harvard, Elon, Dayton
The big contests last Monday did not fail to disappoint. Connecticut slipped past South Carolina 66-55 and Texas beat Florida State 92-88 in a double overtime thriller. The more interesting thing is what happened later in the week to those teams. The Gamecocks lost at Missouri 62-60, Texas fell to Oklahoma, FSU was stunned by Virginia and Connecticut nearly saw their winning streak end at 100 after barely slipping past Tulane. Those top teams are vulnerable. One has to assume that the Huskies will continue to win, it is hard to argue against 101 straight victories, but the rest of the NCAA Tournament field is becoming much more balanced.
