First Four Out: North Carolina State, North Carolina, Illinois, Pittsburgh

Florida went into its series at Auburn looking to make an early statement in the SEC softball title chase in 2016. Thanks to a power surge on Sunday as Amanda Lorenz, Nicole DeWitt and Taylore Fuller hit homeruns to clinch the series with an 8-5 win over the Tigers. LSU took two of three from Alabama in Baton Rouge this weekend as they responded nicely from losing the middle game of the series on Saturday with a resounding 8-1 win on Sunday over the Crimson Tide. James Madison continued its great early season run with wins over Arizona and Arizona State. Also, Boston College with its sweep of Georgia Tech has moved to 17-9 on the season and could end up being a pleasant surprise in the ACC this season.
