Last Eight In: Vanderbilt, VCU, Oregon State, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Cincinnati, Saint Mary’s
First Eight Out: Monmouth, Wichita State, UConn, Ohio State, Houston, Valparaiso, George Washington, Ole Miss
Eliminated From At-Large Conversation: LSU, Florida, BYU
It has not been a great year for #1 seeds to say the least. Hofstra, Belmont, Wichita State, IPFW, North Florida, Monmouth, High Point, Wagner, Valparaiso, and Saint Mary’s all won their regular season conference title, but all lost in their conference tournament. Most of those teams have no chance for an at large bid. The one that do are Wichita State, Monmouth, Valpo and Saint Mary’s. I have no doubt that they are all tournament quality teams, but not all of them can go dancing.
