Last Eight In: San Diego, Rutgers, North Carolina State, Nebraska, USC, Duquesne, Iowa, West Virginia
First Eight Out: Oregon, Western Kentucky, St. Bonaventure, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Utah, St. Mary’s, Auburn
Unlike on the men’s side of college basketball, the favorites on the women’s side keep on winning. Connecticut is cruising, as expected, and blowing out everybody in the AAC. South Carolina and Notre Dame have been one seeds all year long and look to stay that way. The last top seed is Baylor’s to lose. Their win at Texas has cemented the Lady Bears’ top spot in the Big 12. Those two will face off again to close the regular season on February 29th and presumably meet again the Big 12 Tournament. If things stay as they are, and even if Notre Dame or South Carolina slips once or twice along the way, they are still clearly the best two teams in the best two conferences in women’s basketball. For Texas, they probably need to beat Baylor at least once and hope the Bears slip a couple times and they can grab that last one seed.
