A’Shawn Robinson, Defensive Tackle, Alabama
Overview:
The expectations have always been high for A’Shawn Robinson. As a freshman back in 2013, Robinson managed to crack the regular rotation on Alabama’s talented front line. As a true freshman he managed to lead the Tide with 5.5 sacks. Robinson also added 8.0 tackles-for-loss. The following season, he totaled 49 tackles, including 6.5 tackles-for-loss. The pass rushing numbers were a little disappointing in 2014, but Robinson is more than capable of getting to the quarterback, but that is one thing scouts will want to see more of in 2015 and beyond.
Final Projection:
Robinson already has experience playing nose tackle in a 4-3 scheme and on the end in a 3-4. That versatility will make him a viable option for every NFL team in the draft. There are not many stronger linemen out there who also possess such explosiveness. Robinson can control the line or rush right through it and get into the backfield. Consistency will be important to see from Robinson in 2015 and 2016, should he stay in college that long. Better conditioning should come with time and that could help make it so Robinson does not disappear every once in a while.
