Laquon Treadwell, Wide Receiver, Mississippi
Overview:
Laquon Treadwell wasted little time rewriting the Ole Miss record books. He set freshmen school records in receptions (72), receiving yards (608) and receiving touchdowns (5). His 72 catches were even second most in a single season in school history. Treadwell was turning into more of a big play receiver during his sophomore season. His yards per catch average went from 8.4 as a freshman to 13.2 as a sophomore. However, his sophomore season ended prematurely due to a gruesome injury suffered against Auburn. Despite missing the last four games of the season, Treadwell caught 48 passes for 632 yards and five more touchdowns.
Final Projection:
NFL scouts will be watching to see how Treadwell comes back from his injury. Physically is one thing, but mentally is another. It was a nasty injury. But Treadwell, should he need it, has two years left at Mississippi to prove that he is the same great receiver he was prior to leg injury. At 6-2, Treadwell has nice size for a receiver, but he compliments it with speed and strength. Somehow, even against the top corners in the SEC, Treadwell makes it look so easy to get open. He can create space for himself like few others at this level. If all goes as planned, Treadwell will be one of the first receivers off of the board in either the 2016 or 2017 NFL Draft.
