Robert Nkemdiche, Defensive End, Mississippi
Overview:
Robert Nkemdiche came to Ole Miss as one of the most highly regarded recruits in quite some time. As a true freshman in 2013, Nkemdiche started to show his promise, totaling 34 tackles, 8.0 tackles-for-loss and 2.0 sacks. He earned a variety of Freshman All-American honors for his efforts. As a sophomore, Nkemdiche tallied 35 tackles, 4.0 tackles-for-loss and 2.0 sacks. The numbers do not tell the entire story though. Nkemdiche was the target of many opposing offensive linemen and he impacted plays despite not getting the tackle.
Final Projection:
Nkemdiche projects as a tackle in a 4-3 scheme and an end in a 3-4. He has played at both spots with the Rebels. This is not a player who is going to ever be a speed rusher off of the edge. He uses his strength to overpower and has done it very well; and he is quite athletic too for a 6-4, 296 pound player. He has even played some running back at Ole Miss, and more so during his prep career. During his junior campaign in 2015, scouts will like to see his technique continue to improve, but he has all the physical skills right now to be a top five pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
