Last Four In: Louisville, North Carolina State, California, Oregon State
First Four Out: Longwood, Samford, Virginia Tech, Northwestern
It was a wild opening weekend to the 2015 college softball season as Kentucky went into Tallahassee and knocked off Florida State 3-1 on Sunday. Notre Dame pounded UCLA 8-4 as the Fighting Irish had an excellent approach against the high-octane speed of the Bruins’ Ally Carda. Florida got a two-hitter out of Aleshia Ocasio as she was outstanding against a tough Michigan team on Saturday. Cal State Northridge also made a huge statement by getting wins over several power five conference schools at the Kajikawa Classic. Finally, once again, keep an eye on Minnesota. They were very strong in a 5-0 showing at the UNLV Sportco Kickoff Classic this weekend.
