Yale at Brown Highlights Ivy Football Week
They are called trap games for a reason. An upset can, and often does, happen. It is all about looking past a team to the real guts of one's season. Such could be the flavor of the day at Brown Stadium on Saturday, when Yale invades.
The Elis will play Princeton and Harvard, back to back after the Brown game and the Ivy Championship will hang in the balance. Yale must first get past Brown, which has been no easy task in recent years. Brown has won 13 of the last 18 outings over Yale. The Elis beat Brown, 21-14 at home last year. That game was basically meaningless. This game isn't.
Yale beat Columbia easily behind 202 yards rushing from a back not named Tyler Varga. Candler Rich did the damage as Columbia focused in heavy rain on Varga, who leads the Ivy in scoring. Brown had an uncharacteristic 21-13 win at Penn last week. Seth Rosenbauer ran for 206 yards on30 carries. Brown (4-3) has played virtually everyone on its schedule close.
Yale has the talent and offensive firepower to blow Brown out, but expect a close game with the Elis coming out on top.
