Glory Johnson, Forward, Senior, Tennessee
Overview:
In 2008-09, Glory Johnson became one of just 12 Tennessee Freshmen to start in their first college game as a Lady Vol. She would go on to have a solid freshman year as she scored 10.2 points per game average, along with 7.7 rebounds per game. Her sophomore season in 2009-10, showed many improvements including a five percent improvement from the field going from 40.4 percent to 45.8 percent in field goal shooting. Other highlights include five double-doubles and being named to the SEC All-Community team.
In 2010-11, Johnson took her game up a notch, nearly averaging a double-double per game, with 12.0 points, and 9.7 rebounds per game. On the defensive end, she led the Lady Vols with 50 steals, and 221 defensive rebounds to exert her strength as a force to be reckoned with down low in helping Tennessee get to the Elite Eight.
Final Projection:
Johnson has done nothing but get better at different aspects of her game with each year of her career. I would expect her senior season to be no different especially with the departure of Kelley Cain. Johnson will be the main go to target for Coach Pat Summitt in the post and she will have to lead the charge in controlling the paint for the Lady Vols. The possibility of a double-double average for this Knoxville native is a very likely scenario in 2011-12.
