Yale Football Heads to Columbia This Week
It is now clear that Yale and Harvard are the class of the Ivy League. Yale has suffered only an upset loss against Dartmouth. Harvard is undefeated and had a huge win at Princeton last week. This week Yale travels the short distance to Columbia to play the Lions. The Elis stand at 5-1 and are off to their best start since 2007. Columbia is 0-6, but has shown some life in recent weeks. They beat Yale in 2012, the last time that the two foes met in New York. Of all the Ivy League teams, Yale has the best road record against Columbia. Yale continues to be led by quarterback Morgan Roberts, who was 26-29 for 346 yards against Penn. Tyler Varga remains one of the top runners in the country. He was featured in the New York Times last week and amassed 140 yards against Penn. Yale has some injuries on defense though.
Columbia played Dartmouth tight for the first half and came close to the Green in total offense. Trevor McDonagh, one of the top passers in the Ivies, was 28-50 for over 300 yards. Yale needs this win and should get it. Columbia, before a small, but loud crowd will score points on the Elis and keep it close for a while.
