Harvard vs. Princeton FCS Football Preview
No way that the biggest game in the Ivy League this week can duplicate last season. It’s not even possible. Princeton beat Harvard, 51-48 in three overtimes in Boston last season. This year the game will be contested in Princeton on Saturday.
Princeton (3-2) and Harvard (5-0), along with Yale, are the teams to beat in the Ivies and the result Saturday will go a long way to determining the Ivy League Championship. Princeton is led by quarterback Quinn Epperly, but he missed last week's win over Brown with turf toe. Connor Michelsen, the starter in last year's epic, filled in admirably. Epperly is expected to play Saturday. Princeton leads the FCS in rushing defense, limiting opponents to 61 yards per game. But their offense, led by Epperly and kick returner, Dre Nelson may be more potent. Nelson is the only player in the country to have returned two kickoffs for touchdowns this season. That includes a 100-yarder.
Harvard is tough on both offense and defense, as their record suggests. Andrew Casteen has rushed for 420 yards. Quarterback Scott Hosch is 82-for-129 and Andrew Fischer has 309 receiving yards. Princeton leads the overall series 54-45-7. Look for Princeton to win another close one.
